Reconstruction of Monthly Mean Oceanic Sea Level Pressure Based on COADS and Station
نویسندگان
چکیده
An extended reconstruction of monthly mean oceanic historical sea level pressure (SLP) based on Comprehensive Ocean–Atmosphere Data Set (COADS) release-2 observations is produced for the 1854–1997 period. The COADS data are first screened using an adaptive quality-control procedure. Land SLP data from coastal and island stations are used to supplement the COADS data. The SLP anomalies are analyzed monthly to a 28 grid using statistics based on 20 yr of assimilated atmospheric reanalysis. A first-order correction is applied to the reconstruction to minimize variations associated with spurious long-term changes in the atmospheric mass

An Adaptive neuro-Fuzzy Inference System for Sea Level Prediction considering tide-Generating Forces and oceanic thermal Expansion
The paper presents an adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system for predicting sea level considering tide-generating forces and oceanic thermal expansion assuming a model of sea level dependence on sea surface temperature. The proposed model named TGFT-FN (tide-Generating Forces considering sea surface temperature and Fuzzy neuro-network system) is applied to predict tides at five tide gauge sites ...

Climate control centers in each area are diverse and understanding how they relate to the atmospheric components of the Earth's surface contribute to prediction of climate fluctuations. In this study, by using Pearson's correlation and multivariate regression in a thirty-year period (1961-2010), the relationship between widespread rainfall anomalies in entire of Iran west with temperature a...
متن کاملNOTES AND CORRESPONDENCE Monthly Climatologies of Oceanic Friction Velocity Cubed
Different measures of wind influence the ocean in different ways. In particular, the time-averaged mixed layer turbulent energy production rate is proportional to !u *", where u* is the “oceanic friction velocity” that is based on wind stress. Estimating !u *" from monthly averages of wind stress or wind speed may introduce large biases due to the day-to-day variability of the direction and mag...

Climatic extremes are the special status (high or low) of climatic elements. In spite of the unique definition, there are a lot of thresholds which have been illustrated for extremes. For example, Bonneted (2006) has defined the climatic extremes as intensive and abnormal events that include the lowest and highest values in a time series. Becker et al. (2007) have referred to the extremes of cl...
